Where love of learning builds the foundation of future success
Specific lessons, concepts and developmental goals include:
Independence
The Azalea room curriculum is designed to fine tune your child’s work patterns and facilitate extended periods of concentration. Additional goals, include learning to problem solve with others, follow a sequence of steps or multiple directions, make appropriate choices, and complete tasks within a reasonable time. Children will also know and be able to recount their own full name, age, parents’ names, address, phone number and birthday.
Math
Basic monetary concepts will be built upon in greater details and with increased comprehension, in addition to number recognition and counting from 1 to 100. Sorting, sequencing and forming patterns will be emphasized, as well as simple addition and subtraction.
Language
Further work and repetition with letter recognition and phonetic sounds of each letter increase student understanding and confidence. Pairing letters with their sounds and blending three and four letter phonetic sounds into words form the basis for strong, beginning reading.
Writing
Children will learn to write all letters of the alphabet, lower and upper case as well as numbers.
