Willow Room
Growing within and reaching out...These developmental opportunities are central to the Willow Room curriculum:
Independence
The Willow room curriculum strongly emphasizes listening, problem solving, following a sequence of directions, making appropriate and independent choices, and the ability to complete a task. Additional attention is given to personal care and grooming, and additional opportunities are presented to increase periods of concentration and focus on a task.
Math
At this level, your child will be presented with basic monetary concepts, number recognition and counting, sorting, sequencing and recognizing / forming patterns.
Language
The curriculum builds upon your child’s past exposure and experience to introduce letter recognition, phonics (learning the sounds of the letters), matching letters and sounds, rhyming and storytelling. These same skills are emphasized and developed through our Author and Artist of the Month program.
Spanish Program
The Willow class curriculum offers an afternoon Spanish program, which includes themed weekly vocabulary and songs in Spanish.
Writing
Motor coordination continues to be refined even further through learning to write one’s own name, and write numbers from 1 – 10.
